TRT closes Astra 19.2 outlet

Turkish international channel TRT Turk has stopped broadcasting on the Astra 19.2E satellite service, which reached viewers across much of Europe.

The channel, which simulcasts much of TRT1's domestic schedule, was added to 19.2 East back in 2012, as part of a long-term deal between the Turkish Public Broadcaster and satellite operator SES. Reception reports confirm the channel stopped transmissions at the end of last week.

The move comes as more and more Turkish households across Europe opt to receive Turkish television direct via the Turksat or Eutelsat 7 satellites, from where they are also able to receive a wide range of domestic broadcasts in Turkish.

English language TRT World remains on Astra 19.2.
