FreeSports online live stream now available

STV has today confirmed that FreeSports is now live on the STV Player.

The move comes just weeks after announcing its imminent arrival on the platform as part of a wider deal between STV and sports broadcaster Premier Sports - of which FreeSports is an offshoot of.

The STV Player deal with FreeSports means it can now provide an ‘always on’ sports streaming offering, enabling sports fans to keep up with events around the clock with highlights and live coverage from the UK and global sporting calendars. Fixtures include up to 10 live football matches a week from Major League Soccer (MLS), Liga NOS and Serie A. In addition to football, sports covered include international rugby, ice hockey, motorsports, boxing, wrestling, pool, cycling and equestrian events.

Since FreeSport's termination of its live stream on TVPlayer back in March, the channel hasn't been officially available online for the last six months.

The addition will be particularly welcome in areas that don't receive the full Freeview service and don't have satellite or cable and who haven't been able to access FreeSport.

STV Player is available as an app on all major operating systems and streaming devices.

Richard Williams, STV’s Managing Director, Digital, said:
We are delighted that the STV Player is becoming a destination for sports as our continued investment in programming provides viewers with an even greater choice of exclusive, live and on demand content and increases the appeal of STV Player to the widest possible audience.
