Further channel consolidation on Sky: no more AMC

Updated AMC is joining MTV Beats in becoming the latest two channels to drop off Sky's satellite TV platform next week.

After a month that has seen Your TV, Travel Channel+1 and Good Food leave the platform - the latter effectively merging with Food Network UK - and Ideal World plus Create & Craft go HD only, October will bring further consolidation on the Sky Electronic Programme Guide.

According to a revision of Sky's listings, AMC from BT is leaving on Wednesday. The move comes ahead of a deal between BT and Sky coming in effect, which will see Sky directly marketing BT's channels on Sky.

Asian music channel MTV Beats on 713 also closes and is replaced by News18, which moves from the news section.

Meanwhile, Sky subscribers will gain access to Sky Crime HD on channel 121 from midday Tuesday 1st October, although as Real Lives is closing six hours earlier, there's no net change in the number of channels.
