Ideal World moves to HD transmissions on Sky and Freesat

Two shopping channels have made the move to high definition broadcasting today, with the official launch of Ideal World and sister channel Create & Craft HD on satellite.

Sky viewers will be able to watch the Peterborough-based home shopping channels in HD on channels 664 (Ideal World) and 683 (Create & Craft) following an EPG update today.

Freesat viewers will be able to watch in HD on channels 812 (Ideal World) and 813 (Create & Craft).

On both Sky and Freesat, the standard definition versions of the channels will cease to be available, meaning users of older satellite receivers will no longer be able to watch the channels. Sky HD/Sky Q and Freesat HD receivers are being automatically switched to the new HD feeds.

The switch to HD is the culmination of a multi-million pound investment into new HD-capable equipment announced by Ideal Shopping Direct earlier this year. It follows a rebrand of the channel back in August and the launch of an overnight shopping slot on ITV.

Last month, Jamie Martin, CEO, Ideal Shopping Direct, commented:
Ideal World and Create and Craft will be the first TV shopping channel in the UK to broadcast in true High Definition as specified by Sky and the multi-million pound investment in HD equipment is all part of Ideal Shopping Direct’s multi-channel retail strategy as the company navigates the digital waters of media proliferation.
