Blaze and Lifetime swap Sky slots

Owner A+E Networks promotes high performing Blaze up Sky's channel list.

The male-skewing channel best known for factual-reality shows Pawn Stars, Storage Wars, Wicked Tuna, Highway Thru Hell and Forged in Fire can now be found on Sky channel 164.

Sister channel Lifetime has moved the other way, moving to Blaze's old slot on Sky channel 187. The female-skewing channel features scripted dramas, factual entertainment and feature length Lifetime Original Movies.

The swap reflects current viewing figures for both channels. Lifetime launched in the UK in 2013, but has recently been shedding +1 and HD outlets on Sky. Overall, BARB viewing figures credit the channel with just 0.1% viewing share. Blaze launched three years later in 2016, but also launched on Freeview. In August 2019, Blaze had a 0.36% share of the market, making it the most watched of all of A+E Network's channels, which also include History, History 2 and Crime+Investigation.

Since the reshuffle of Sky's Electronic Programme Guide in May 2018, which combined general entertainment, lifestyle and factual channels in the 100-199 channel range (with an overflow from channel 450), there's been a steady stream of channel operators reviewing and reordering their channel portfolios on Sky, giving an insight as to which channels broadcasters view as being of greater or lesser value.
