TVPlayer reduces app availability and channel line-up

TVPlayer's year of change continues, with the streaming service discontinued on a number of devices and a further reduction of channels.

Following last week's announcement that the streaming app has been sold to Alchimie, users have been told that the TVPlayer app will no longer be supported across the wide range of devices it was previously, notably now excluding Samsung Smart TVs and Roku devices.

At the same time, its customer support is advising that further channels are being withdrawn from the platform, including Fox HD. Incidentally, Fox was advising viewers affected by the closure of sister channel Your TV last week to find Fox on TVPlayer.

A check on TVPlayer's website and app this morning confirms the channels announced as being withdrawn (full list below) are still appearing in the channel list.

Following TVPlayer's sale to Alchimie, the service will tap into Alichimie's 40,000 hours of content. It has already added additional channels to the service: Think History, Think Travel, Think Nature, Species, Humanity and children's service OKIDOKI.

With regards its remaining streamed channel service, TVPlayer said in a statement to subscribers: "TVPlayer has always offered the best free to air channels and will continue to offer great free channels to our subscribers."
