Disney+ UK launch date confirmed

Disney's new subscription video-on-demand service will be available in the UK and Ireland from the end of March.

Disney+ will launch on the 31st March, ushering in a new era for viewers wanting to access programmes and movies from Disney, Fox, National Geographic and related film studios.

Interested parties are being invited to sign-up to receive further information when it's released.

How the launch of Disney+ will affect Disney's provision on Sky hasn't yet been confirmed, but it's already known that Disney has been winding down existing linear TV services across Europe ahead of the launch of Disney+ . The 31st March 2019 is at the end of the four month launch window we reported back in August. Full details of which shows and movies will be available to UK and Ireland viewers is yet to be confirmed - some countries are due to launch with a variable line-up of programmes depending on existing broadcast rights deals in each area.

Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that Disney has struck deals with Samsung, LG and Amazon providing access to the service for many more viewers, although it's expected that Disney+ will only appear on more recent models.
