Eurosport entices viewers with Olympic year discount

Eurosport prepares for the Olympic year with half price access to the Eurosport Player.

The broadcaster's Black Friday offer available until 2nd December 2019 means UK subscribers can get a 12 month pass for £19.99, instead of the normal annual price of £39.99 - and bag a front row seat at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics at the same time, as the 12 month subscription period includes access to Eurosport during the event, which starts on 24th July.

With UK rights for the 2020 games sub-licensed from the BBC, Eurosport will, for the first time, provide viewers with a multi-screen selection of the type of live events that have previously been shown on BBC Red Button in the past.

The BBC struck the deal with Eurosport after the Discovery-owned broadcaster snapped up the broadcast rights for the Olympics until 2024. In return for the BBC (who hold the UK rights until 2020) giving Eurosport access to the 2018 Winter and 2020 Summer Olympics, Eurosport (as new UK rights holder) will give the BBC access to 2022 and 2024 games. The deal means the BBC can still focus on all the key live events for free-to-air viewers, with Eurosport providing in-depth coverage across the Olympic disciplines.

In addition to Olympic coverage, the Eurosport annual pass provides access to stream Eurosport 1 and 2 and coverage of the Tour de France cycling, Australian Open tennis, Snooker World and UK championships as well as Formula E motorsports.
