Now TV launches HD boost

Now TV has begun to roll-out full HD and enhanced sound on supported devices.

For £3 extra a month, the Now TV HD boost will provide users with an upgrade to picture quality, 5.1 surround sound and an extra stream. A seven day free trial is being made available to customers.

The HD boost launches with full 1080p HD access to all Sky Sports channels (in conjunction with a Sky Sports pass), plus selected shows and movies (for those with entertainment and/or cinema passes). Gold, Fox, Cartoonito and Nicktoons TV channels are not available in HD.

A minimum broadband speed of 12Mbps is needed for the service to work.

Those with a Sky Sports pass plus the HD boost will be able to access Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League at 50 frames a second (not on LG TVs).

All users with a sound speaker or soundbar will also benefit for Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound with the boost.

Customers who sign up also get access to an extra stream, allowing users to stream on three different devices at the same time.

Existing customers can add the Now TV HD Boost in the Passes and Vouchers section of 'my account', while new users will get the option to add the boost during sign-up.

The launch of the Now TV HD boost follows months of testing among staff and selected customers, although customer trials were temporarily halted earlier in the year.
