What's on Sony Movies Classic?

Sony unveils launch line-up for its new classic movie channel, which goes on-air on Tuesday 7th January 2020.

Available on a free-to-air basis, Sony Movies Classic will take the slot currently occupied by Sony Movies Christmas, which in turn replaced True Movies.

Celebrating cinema from the 1940s to the Noughties, the channel's remit will be to show films from the so-called "Golden Age of Hollywood" as well as landmark movies from every decade, key films of the British new-wave, and modern masterpieces.

Launch Day (7th January) will feature screenings of Ladies of the Chorus, A Man For All Seasons, The French Lieutenant's Woman and Jamaica Inn.

Subsequent days will feature films including Gandhi, Kramer vs. Kramer, Oliver!, Easy Rider, Antony and Cleopatra, The African Queen and From Here to Eternity.

Comedy films will also be present on the channel, with Duck Soup, The Mouse that Roared and I Didn't Do It.

Sony Movies Classics will also screen a range of classic, gritty British films with the Albert Finney film Saturday Night and Sunday Morning featuring alongside A Taste of Honey and The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner.

Sony Movies Classic will appear from 7th January 2020 on Sky channel 319, Freeview 50*, Freesat 303 and Virgin 424.
