Connected future for Horse and Country TV

The UK's only channel devoted to all things equine has confirmed it's discontinuing distribution via satellite, with the channel leaving Sky in early 2020.

Horse and Country TV will cease being available on Sky from 31st January 2020. Instead the channel will be available via online platforms, including Roku, Apple TV and Amazon Fire TV, as well as via the website and mobile apps.

An increase in the number of viewers opting to access television via the internet has been cited as a reason for the channel's decision.

Viewers will be able to choose from a free version of the service, or access a premium "Plus" version of the service for £5.99 a month, which will contain more live sport. The premium service is also available via Amazon Prime Video and via cable on Virgin TV.

Horse and Country TV was available as a free-to-air service, meaning although Sky was the only satellite platform to have the channel in its channel line-up, it has been possible to access the service without a Sky viewing card or via a free-to-air satellite receiver.
