Sewing returns to Freeview channel 73

Channel returns under new name and ownership, but the same management.

Sewing Street's first broadcast took place earlier on Friday, taking over Sewing Quarter's previous broadcast capacity on Freeview.

Sewing Street is currently only broadcast on Freeview channel 73, with videos being posted on YouTube. The service is now part of Gemporia, after Immediate Media exited the shopping TV business.

The deal that saw Sewing Street take Sewing Quarter's Freeview slot did not include other assets including the Sewing Quarter website and existing Sky slot, which was closed in January. However, Sewing Street is planning a Sky launch and a new website at sewingstreet.com is also coming soon.

But the launch of Sewing Street hasn't gone without controversy: the owner of an existing Lancashire business of the same name has expressed her annoyance over the choice of name, taking to Facebook to voice her concerns, urging the channel's manager Neil Garratt to contact her to resolve the matter amicably.
