BritBox UK arrives on LG TVs

Users of LG Smart TVs are the latest to benefit from BritBox UK's rollout across devices.

BritBox UK is now available on all LG Smart TV ranges manufactured from 2014. UK users can find the app in the LG content store.

BritBox contains a growing library of older programmes from the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5. ITV is the lead shareholder in the UK version of the service, with a 90% stake.

The streaming service has been slowly rolling out across smart TVs since last autumn, starting with Samsung and then across Panasonic and budget brands manufacturered by Vestel, including JVC, Bush and Hitachi.

All smart TVs and boxes with Freeview Play will get the app in due course. Users can check to see if their TV has Freeview Play by going to channel 100 and seeing if the Freeview Play portal loads instead of a basic text service.

At the moment, BritBox UK isn't integrated into Freeview Play on those devices that have it, but users can check all available apps loaded on their TV to see if it's already been added in the background.

The first set of YouView boxes have begun to get the app this week as part of a phased rollout.

BritBox is now also widely accessible on TV streaming devices including Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV and Google Chromecast.

Speaking of the rollout to LG TV's, Reemah Sakaan, Group Director ITV SVOD and Chief Creative & Brand Officer BritBox said:
LG is a fantastic connected TV partner, and we are excited that even more people will be able to enjoy the biggest box of British box-sets here on BritBox!

Carolyn Anderson, Marketing Director at LG Electronics UK, commented:
We’re delighted to bring BritBox to our customers, giving them access to an even wider variety of entertainment content.
