Keep up-to-date with the latest updates to the UK's digital terrestrial television service, Freeview. Updates will be posted, usually within 72 hours of occurrence.

Any updates highlighted in yellow are only applicable to newer Freeview receivers (Freeview HD / Freeview Play).

  • Channel 32 - Sony Movie Channel is now Sony Movies (COM5-Arqiva)
  • Channel 40 - Movies4Men is now Sony Movies Action (COM4-SDN) [not Wales]
  • Channel 48 - True Entertainment is now Sony Channel (Local-Comux) [limited UK coverage]
  • Channel 60 - Sony Movies+1 (Local-Comux) Was previously on channel 61
  • Channel 61 - Sony Channel+1 (Manchester only)

VACANT / CURRENTLY UNUSED FREEVIEW CAPACITY

COM5 is currently configured with 15 SD TV streams. It can carry 16 SD TV streams. Arqiva is the licence holder for this multiplex.

COM6 is currently configured with 15 SD TV streams. It can carry 16 SD TV streams. Arqiva is the licence holder for this multiplex.

COM7 is currently configured with 8Mbps of un-utilised capacity. The multiplex can be used for a combination of HD and SD services; therefore it could carry at least 3 more SD TV streams or one HD channel. Capacity on this multiplex is due to expire by 2023. Arqiva is the licence holder for this multiplex.

COM8 is currently configured with between 6 and 10Mbps of un-ultilised capacity. The multiplex can be used for a combination of HD and SD services; therefore it could carry up to 5 more SD TV streams or 1 HD channel. Capacity on this multiplex is due to expire by 2023. Arqiva is the licence holder for this multiplex.

In England, Wales and Northern Ireland, PSB1 has around 2-2.5Mbps of unused capacity, equivalent to 1 SD TV stream. The capacity is protected under the Royal Charter for BBC use. The capacity is used to broadcast BBC Scotland TV in Scotland.
